Wednesday Weigh In, On Friday!

We have had a horrible week.  I won’t get in to it; but I can tell you, I had chocolate.  Yeap.  it was good too.

I have been so emotionally and physically drained I didn’t even journal my foods/points.  I continued with the water and unsweet tea; didn’t gorge, but can’t say I did my best to eat healthy, so I was completely surprised to lose 4 1/2 pounds!  I am down 20 1/2 pounds and so thankful.  Time to drop another point.

I’m thankful.

August 19, 2010 Meals

I started my day off GREAT!  Even did good through lunch; but by dinner time, I was starving.  Somehow I managed to not press the “submit” button when I was processing my Gulf Power payment the night before last.  Yeap.  They showed up at my house this morning.  Power was turned off at 10:30 A.M. and was not hooked back up until 6:50 P.M.!  There was no way I was going to cook in the house with the temperature over 90 degrees (INSIDE!).  The only reason we even got TuDo was because Kayla offered to pay for it, so . . . . . I gave in.  While I know I did eat more than I should have; I did not eat nearly the amount I usually do, so I’m OK with it.

My day started with:

2 cups coffee w/ 2 International Delight French Vanilla Creamers

Wednesday Weigh-In, Week 5

Even with a horrible headache I forced myself to go weigh in.  I was dreading it as the last few days I have stayed hungry.  Even a few minutes ago I found myself sticking my hand in an Animal Cracker bag and relishing the taste of sweet goodness!  Fortunately, I had enough self control to stop after a few …dozen….  :)  Only kidding on that part, but did eat a few more than I should have.

My personal goal has been to lose at least 2lbs each week; I didn’t make it.  I lost a pound and a half.  I know, any loss is better than a gain; I just yearn to get this weight off.  I want to be able to walk and not get tired, to run and not faint from exhaustion, to be able to slide down a slide with my kids and not get stuck!

I can tell I am getting tired of my salad’s.  I only had 2 this last week; which is probably why I didn’t do well.  I was eating a salad at lunch and dinner of every meal.

After my weigh in, I just wanted to gorge; go through a drive-through and get the biggest, fattest, juiciest burger I could get; thank the Lord we are broke or I probably would have!

Enough of a pitty party; have to boost myself back up and go on from here.

My head is really hurting and I’m just not feeling well.  Have been in bed all day.

Here’s to a better rest of the day,

Stacey

Recipes & Menus …. Whole Grain Pastas …. Yuck!

If anyone out there has any recipes or menus geared towards healthier lifestyles, please share them with me!  I am going to do better at keeping up with my meals/snacks and sharing them on my blog.

In Weight Watchers we are encouraged to eat whole grains.  I can’t stand whole grain pastas …. they are hard and chewy.  Does anyone have a suggestion on how to get past the texture?  I’ve been eating smaller portions of regular pasta and then find myself hungry in an hour.  Last night I had 3oz of trimmed pot roast, 1/4 cup of rice and a cup of green beans.  You’d think it would have been enough!  Will whole grains fill me up more?

Thanks for the input and help.  You can leave a comment here or you can email me at thepadens@cox.net.

Thanks!

Week 4 & 15lbs

I blogged last Wednesday about my week 4 weight loss; but I am a visual person.  While I can not tell the difference in the mirror, or even in the photos, I wanted something to see, so Kayla helped me by taking a picture for me this morning.

I am wearing the same outfit that I wore at Easter of 2010.

Easter 2010 (53)

Easter 2010

I was not even at my biggest then, but it was the most recent picture I had.

15 pounds and 4 weeks britches

Today (Sunday , 4 days after my 4 week weigh in)

No, I’m not pregnant!  I know, it’s bad.  And I wasn’t even going to post the one with the britches pulled away; but this is for me as well for anybody else that is out there and reading this and struggling with weight loss.  If I can’t be real to myself, then who can I be real with?  Right?!

The pictures aren’t the greatest, they were taken with my phone.  Again, I can’t see the difference right now, but in another 15 pounds I will take another picture.  Now that the first month is over, I’m sure it will drop to about 2 lbs a week, maybe even a pound … we’ll see.

I still haven’t started exercising yet.  I know it is much better for me; I know I will feel better once I get started; right now I just can’t deal with it.  Right now, I’m dealing with the eating and gorging and getting to the root of what has taken me from alcohol & drugs to food.  One step at a time, sometimes one meal or snack at a time.  And I’m OK with that. :)

Wednesday Weigh In … Doing The Happy Dance!

I had my Weight Watchers weigh in today. I was a little anxious because Chris and I had gone to Hemmingway’s for our anniversary this past Friday night. While I did good with my dinner and portions, when I saw their Key Lime Pie … oh my! Chris ordered one and lets just say it was better than I could have imagined! PLUS it was so big, Chris and I couldn’t even finish it (and that’s sayin’ something!).

Other than that, I really didn’t stray, but you never know, you know?!

I stepped on the scales (I wear the same thing every week so I don’t have any reason to make excuses if I have a weight gain), and when the lady's eyes got wide, and a smile came across her face I knew I had at least lost a pound! Imagine my surprise when she told me I had lost 5 more pounds!!! I just couldn’t believe it. Not only did I lose 5lbs; in 4 weeks I met my first goal of 5% weight loss, which was 13lbs. As of today, I have lost 15lbs! It seems like just yesterday I started on this journey, and while I can not see a difference in my appearance, or even in my clothes, I can see it on the scales. For that I am so thankful.

So, until next weeks weigh in . . . . . . . .

Christopher

Christopher is scheduled for an MRI with sedation at 8 a.m. tomorrow (Tuesday). We check in at 7 a.m. He can have no medication prior to the MRI and nothing to drink after midnight. Please be praying for him, the nurse, the technician. We are not allowed to go back with Christopher for the I.V.

Christopher has not been doing well the last few weeks. He has hit me on several occassions. Please be praying for us. I am tired and weary. I feel like a failure as a mother. With technology so grand and all that we can do in this world, why can't someone help my son? It breaks my heart.

Habitat For Humanity

Have you ever heard of Millard and Linda Fuller?

LindaMillardFuller200

Prior to applying for a Habitat For Humanity home, I never had. In fact, I went through almost the entire application process before knowing who they were.

Did you know Habitat for Humanity is a Christ-Centered program?

I didn’t know that either. I was shocked.

In fact, I was so touched by the story of Millard and Linda Fuller, that I’ve researched them.

A brief history….

Millard Fuller was more interested in money than his wife. They were millionaires. His wife left him. After a brief separation and “spiritual guidance," the two were reunited.

Millard and Linda Fuller sold everything they had and started a new journey together.

If you are interested in reading “the rest of the story,” you can visit this link: Millard and Linda Fuller.

Since making it through the approval process, i have been approached by many people regarding the "assumption" of what it means to be approved for a Habitat for Humanity home.

This is not a FREE home; do not be deceived.

A deposit is required of $500, "sweat equity" totally 200 hours is required, and a mortgage is paid as well as insurance and property taxes.

The monthly mortgage amount is $450. This amount includes the property taxes and the insurance. The loan is interest free. Many of the items are donated, to include labor.

One thing I have read that has bothered me is, and it is probably my own misinterpretation, but it is stated in the above referenced article that these home were/are built for the “poor” and down and out. I do not consider myself nor my family to be poor. Based on the “American Guidelines” and obviously Habitat’s, we are; yet we have so much more than some will ever have. Do I dream of having more; absolutely. My list of dreams and desires includes property with a rolling creek and farm animals, my own restaurant to feed people (and the homeless), and … hmmmm, well, as you can see, I have big dreams, but when I looked up the following statistics, that 1.6 billion people — a quarter of humanity — live without electricity, my dreams seem to take a back seat. How can i have or “desire” to have so much when my neighbor (so to speak) has not?! I don’t recall ever going to bed hungry, at least not because I didn’t have food. My kids are all clothed and have toys; but those things are not what is important.

The Bible says if we gain the whole world, yet lose our soul, we have nothing. That, in my opinion, is being poor.

Wednesday Weigh-In (Posted a day late…sorry)

I expected to not lose any weight this week; after all, driving to Jackson in less than 36 hours for my Pappow’s funeral would give me several hurdles to jump, the main one being eating while driving equals fast food!  Quick trip and no time to stop and lolly.

Once I got back home I tried getting back on track, until Sunday when my husband got me my FAVORITE chicken from Popeye’s!  I know, just shoot me, but it was our anniversary and I was tired physically, emotionally, and spiritually from the trip and didn’t want to cook.  I was thankful for the sweet gesture.

Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised when I not only did not have a gain, but had a loss of 2lbs!!  I thought the lady was crazy.

So, still trucking on this thing called, “lifestyle change.”  Taking it one day at a time.

Blessings,

Stacey
